What to Expect

During the intensive, you will have opportunities to:

develop a deep understanding of your unique breath and voice
foster a tangible awareness of your own vocal and physical habits
experience and incorporate the Linklater classical voice warm up progression into your artistic practice
explore a wealth of tools with which to tap into your imagination
build a coherent and integrated approach to physical, vocal, and text preparation
deepen your ability to be in relationship with your scene partner and your audience

Seasoned actors and advanced students are invited to renew and revitalize their craft. For directors and playwrights, they can gain a more profound understanding of the actor’s craft as well as a new organic process for their written works. Dancers and movers in the performing arts can expect to find a deeper connection to their own body through the lens and window of their resonant voices. Voice teachers will acquire new approaches to enrich their voice teaching toolkit.

As a participant, if you leave with plenty of answers and even more questions then we have done our job.

How to Prepare

How to Prepare

The nature of the work demands a high level of commitment in terms of time and energy. Here’s what you can do to make the most of the Intensive:

Clear your schedule; avoid working and auditions if at all possible; tell friends and family you may be unavailable during the time.
Purchase enough groceries and healthy food options to last the entire week
Get as much sleep as possible; honour your impulse to slow down
Arrive to each session, including warm up, early so that you can give yourself time to transition into the work with consciousness and care
Become familiar with and memorize any assigned text in advance of the Intensive. Texts TBA
