Master Teachers David Smukler, Founder of the Voice Intensive and Judith Koltai,
founding member of the Voice Intensive faculty and founder of the discipline of Embodied
Practice, come together to investigate and share their methodology as it has evolved through
34 years of their combined research at Canada's National Voice Intensive. This is your
opportunity to study together with these renowned teachers and to partake in their
pioneering and continuously evolving practice. Learn some of the guiding principles behind a
lifelong dedication to the art of teaching.    

The specific primary objectives of the week-end are:

1.     Exploration or re-exploration of basic or primary physical & vocal practices as a “sensory” event.
2.     Recognizing “breath” or “breathing” as a “knowable” tool.
3.     Investigating the concept of “attention” versus “tension”.
4.     Making space in our minds and bodies for rethinking/refueling/restoring body and voice.
5.     Re-examination of your relationship to your practice.

            Actors, Teachers of Movement, Voice and Acting
            Performers who would like a refresher for maintaining their skills
            1.   Clarify your intentions and the questions you have about your practice(s).
            2.   Learn the Sebastian speech.
            3.   Be familiar with the Beatrice/Benedick scene

            FRIDAY - 7.00 to 9:30 p.m.
            SATURDAY AND SUNDAY     10.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. and 2.00 to 5.00 p.m.

Wear clothing you can move in with ease. No jewelry. Please bring a mat and a blanket.
